Future of the Arts 2018 is the R.G. Endres Gallery juried competion planned for every April. The exhibition runs during the month of April with an awards gala reception on April 13th at 6:00 PM.

Eligibility: Open to all residents the Kansas City metro area and surrounding suburban cities, for children, grades 1-12 who attend public or private schools. 

Eligible Artwork: 
1) All 2D and 3D art of any media. 
2) All performance art including music.
3) All theatrical performance including dance.
4) All forms literature.
All artwork must be created by or performed by the student.

Multipe prizes: Art scholarships, supplies or enhancements totalling more than $1000 in value. Including four $300.00 college scholarships for the winners of the four 9th grade throught 12th grade catagories. Designated age groups those in are grades 1st-3rd, 4th-6th, 7th-9th, 10th-12th.Gift awards will be given to winners of each age group.

Entry Details: 
For 2D and  3D art, one entry is allowed per artist. For performances, a short two minute video of the performance is required. For literature the complete short story, poem, etc., is required. A fee of $5 per student. (For entry financial assistance, please contact our grant administrator at  Each student may enter art as many times as they like, (each with a $5.00 fee), although only one piece per artist will be allowed in the final round of judging.
The final adjudication round for top winners of the 2D and 3D art will take place after the show is hung. The performance final round will be adjudicated live on the night of the Gala on April 13th, 2018. 

If your art is chosen:

Being accepted int to the show is an achievement on its own, you will want to be present at the Gala Celebration, April 13, as all participants will receive an award and the best in each category will receive a special award recognition. All tangible art work MUST be for sale. The Sales Commission to the Gallery is 40%. Prices listed on the entry are binding and cannot be changed after submission to the show is made.

~ Performance and Theatrical Arts that are chosen:
Your performances will be shown on TV monitors throughout the Gala Celebration. Your attendance wis not mandatory but highly recommended.
The top TWO entries in these categories are required to perform their entry LIVE at the Gala Celebration where the winner will be decided on THAT NIGHT.

~ Literature That is chosen:
The top work in each age group will read their piece LiVE at the Gala Celebration.

~ 2-Dimensional and 3-D Art that is chosen:
You will bring your 2D and 3D art to Prairie Village City Hall between Wednesday March 29 and Friday March 31st. Your 2-D artwork will need to safely FRAMED  with a wire hanger across the back. “Safely” means: If it is anything other than a canvas painting or a relief collage (bumpy 2-D art), the frame will need a glass (not Plexi-glass) covering. If it is a photograph, there will need to be a small space between the photo and the glass, usually provided by a matt.
If it is acrylic or oil painting on a wrapped canvas, and is NOT framed, then the SIDES of the canvas will need to be painted.

For literature submissions, please arrange your work to fit on one page and submit a photograph of your typed manuscript and submit as a single JPEG image.
