Judge: Akili Tommasino is a curatorial assistant at The Museum of Modern Art, New York and doctoral candidate in History of Art and Architecture at Harvard University, where he earned his MA and BA. An advocate of emerging artists and scholar of the twentieth-century avant-garde, Tommasino has organized and collaborated on numerous exhibition projects at institutions including the Centre Pompidou - Musée national d'art moderne, Paris and National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC.
Award: Exhibition of selected works, August 2017 at the b.j.spoke gallery.
Calendar: Exhibition Dates: August 2 - 27, 2017.
Reception: Saturday August 5th from 6:00-9:00pm.
Submission Deadline: April 30, 2017
Eligibility: Artists living in the United States who use paper as their primary medium, as a substrate, or as the subject of a video.
Media: Works made of, on or about paper: cut paper, folded paper, woven paper, glued paper, drawings, paintings, pastels, prints, photographs, paper sculpture, 3D, bound books, collage, mixed media, video, and installation.
Instructions: Installation pieces must be installed and removed by the artist. All work must be framed and wired and/or display-ready. Use plexiglass only – no glass for any shipped work. Artists are responsible for shipping their own work to and from the exhibit.
Notification: The jurors results will be emailed by May 30, 2017. A return confirmation of participation is required by Monday, June 5th, to hold a spot in the spot in the exhibition.
