Project Budget:  Two artists (one selected for each store) will be awarded a budget of $10,000.00 to cover the artist’s fee and all costs associated with the design process, fabrication, delivery to the store, and supervision of installation by the store’s general contractor. 

Artist Eligibility:  Professional artists, who live in North Texas, with the ability to design and fabricate a large scale mural, are encouraged to respond to this Request for Qualifications.

Selection Process: Artists should submit their qualification via Callforentry.org before August 14, 2016. Up to six (6) artists will be selected as finalists to prepare a mural proposal design and participate in an interview process to be considered for one or both stores. A $250.00 honorarium will be provided to the finalists to create a mural design proposal and participate in the artist selection process.
PLEASE NOTE: Selected finalists must sign a Statement of Understanding acknowledging that their proposal can be designed, fabricated, and transported to the project budget, and agreeing to sign a “Work for Hire” agreement with the Arts Council of Fort Worth.

ABOUT KROGER COMPANY

Kroger has a distinguished history of commissioning mural artists.  In1983, Richard Haas painted a seven-story “Homage to Cincinnatus” at the company’s Cincinnati headquarters to commemorate its 100 Year Anniversary.  More recently, Kroger has hired local artists to lend their talents in creating enhanced shopping experiences for new stores. Creating space that encourages community gathering and celebrates the spirit of the neighborhood are overarching goals for 65 new stores across the United States in 2016, including three in North Fort Worth.  Additional new stores are in the works in Dallas and Rockwall County.
