Mending: New Uses for Old Traditions is a southeastern regional exhibition open to artists living or working in NC, SC, GA, FL, AL, MS, TN, KY, VA, which will feature work created with or about traditional media or representations of women. This exhibition is sponsored by the University of North Carolina Wilmington's Department of Art and Art History and is being held at the UNCW Art Gallery in conjunction with the 2014 Southeastern Women's Studies Association conference hosted by UNCW's Women's Studies and Resource Center (WSRC).

Pickup and Return of Work
Open to artists living or working in the Southeast United States (NC, SC, GA, FL, AL, MS, TN, KY, VA). Entries of original work in all media, free-standing or wall-mounted, will be considered with a primary focus on work created with or about traditional media or representations of women.
All artwork must be installation ready and cannot exceed UPS or FedEx weight or size limits.
PROCEDURE FOR ENTRY
All entries must be submitted through CaFE, www.callforentry.org, by Wednesday, January 15, 2014. Each artist may submit up to three pieces along with an artist statement.
A commission of 30 percent will be retained by UNCW on all sales. A sale price of Not for Sale (NFS) value must be indicated for all work that is not for sale. Artwork priced as NFS should have a value exclusive of commission for insurance purposes.
Artwork included in Mending: New Uses for Old Traditions will be on view February 27 through April 4, 2014 in the Art Gallery at the Cultural Arts Building on the University of North Carolina Wilmington campus. A reception will be held on Friday, March 28 from 5:30 - 7 p.m. in conjunction with the 2014 Southeastern Women's Studies Association conference hosted by UNCW's Women's Studies and Resource Center (WSRC). The Art Gallery at the Cultural Arts Building hosts national, international, student and faculty exhibits serving as a key educational component of the Department of Art & Art History at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. The Art Gallery is a resource for the department, university campus, and the Wilmington community. A public reception is held for each exhibit and all exhibitions are free and open to the public.
The Art Gallery is located on the corner of Randall Parkway and Reynolds Drive on the UNCW campus in Wilmington, NC. The Art Gallery is open Monday through Friday from noon until 4 p.m. The Art Gallery is closed during university holidays. For more information: http://www.uncw.edu/art/gallery/
