The Arts Council of Martin County, FL and the Elliott Museum all invite US artists to participate in the inaugural collaborative exhibition, Viva Florida 500! Selected works will be exhibited at the Court House Cultural Center Galleries and at the Elliott Museum Exhibition Hall in a joint exhibition from Friday, September 20th through Saturday, October 26th, 2013.
Located in historic downtown Stuart, the Arts Council of Martin County has been a leader in the arts community for more than thirty years. By providing services to visual and performing artists, arts organizations, students and the public, the Arts Council strives to instill a passion for and participation in the arts. Programs coordinated by the Council include ArtsFest, The Court House Cultural Center Gallery, arts education, and much, much more.
The Elliott Museum on south Hutchinson Island has been a hub for art, history, and technology in Martin County since the 1960s. The completely new Museum opening, in March of 2013, features a new exhibition gallery, a working art studio, a theatre, a large collection of Model A and other antique vehicles, and many interactive exhibits. The Elliott Museum continues to offer on-going art classes and exhibition opportunities, as well as focusing on local history and technology in its new state-of-the-art Green facility.

Hand Delivery of Artwork: Saturday, September 7th – Wednesday, September 11th, 2013.

Exhibition Opening Reception & Awards: Friday, September 20th, 2013, 5:00 to 800 p.m. in both locations; Awards Ceremony at the Elliott Museum at 6:30 p.m. A Champagne Preview for Museum & Arts Council Members-Only at the Arts Council from 4-5 PM will kick off the festivities.
Pick up artwork: Monday, October 28th - Friday, November 1st, 2013, from 10 AM to 2 PM.
Return Shipping of Artwork: to be complete by November 1st, 2013.
Submit digital images to CaFE. You must have a CaFE account – it’s free.
2D and 3D original artwork in all media and photography completed in the last 12 months and not previously exhibited at the Courthouse Cultural Center or at the Elliott Museum.
Giclées will be accepted in photography or digital art only.
Include dimensions of work (H __" x W __") and a detailed description of the medium.
Entry Form, Fee and Deadline
Please submit your entry form through CaFÉ’s website. CaFÉ (www.CallForEntry.org) is an online application and adjudication system for art fairs, festivals and juried shows. Contact us for details: firstname.lastname@example.org
For each submitted work include:
• The title of the work, the framed size, medium, price, year completed and the dimensions for sculpture.
• A non-refundable entry fee of $30.00 covers one (1) image per artist.
• A maximum of three (3) images may be submitted per artist, with a $10.00 fee for each additional image after one.
• Arts Council of Martin County and Elliott Museum member artists receive their “3rd Image FREE” – just call the office to get the Member Artist Code when you are paying for your submissions. Applications, fees and images must be received by CaFÉ on or before Wednesday, July 17th, 2013 by 12:00 Midnight to be considered. No applications, images or fees will be accepted after the July 17th deadline.
• You may choose to become a member of one or both organizations before you enter! See each website for details: www.martinarts.org and www.elliottmuseum.org.
Notice of Acceptance
Artists will be notified of selection via CaFÉ no later than Friday, August 2nd, 2013.
Artwork and Digital Images
Please submit one image submission per each 2D work or 3D work.
Images must conform to CaFÉ guidelines. Dimensions are to be 1920 x 1920 pixels and saved as a Baseline Standard JPEG. For more information on image preparation visit the CaFÉ website at www.callforentry.org/mediaprep.
Submit Visa and MasterCard payments to: CaFÉ.
Submit checks to Court House Cultural Center, 80 E. Ocean Blvd., Stuart, Florida 34994. Payment must arrive on or before Wednesday, July 17th, 2013 to the Arts Council for entries to be eligible. Make checks payable to Arts Council and mark envelope Attn: Viva Florida Entry.
The judges will select from displayed original work one Best in Show award from all entries; one Best Interpretation of the Viva Florida Theme in any category; three Best of Category awards – one for 2-D Original Art (painting, drawing, collage, etc.,) one for Photography, and one for 3-D (as long as a minimum of 20 pieces in the category receiving the award are entered.) Best of Show: $1000; Best Viva Florida Interpretation: $750; Best in Category (up to 3): $500 each; Second in Category (up to 3): $250 each; Third in Category (up to 3): $125 each; up to 10 non-category specific Honorable Mentions: $50 each; two People’s Choice Awards (one at each venue) will be awarded at the end of the show.

Our judges for the Viva Florida 500 Collaborative Exhibition are Caroline Jasper and Jeff Ripple.

Caroline Jasper - PowerColor Workshop
Monday – Wednesday, September 16th – 18th, 2013. Caroline will show participants how to
master color in all media to make their work come alive. Three-day painting workshop fee: $300 for Museum & Arts Council Members; $325 for non-members. Details and sign-up information available at www.elliottmuseum.org/the-studio.htm.
Jeff Ripple – The Art of Photography Workshop
Friday, September 20th from 9 AM – 2 PM. Jeff takes participants through the lenses of their cameras, pads, and iPhones in search of the perfect composition in the perfect light. This workshop is for photographers and artists alike who are already familiar with using their equipment. One-day workshop fee: $100 for Museum & Arts Council Members; $125 for non-members.
