General Information
The fire station site is located on an undeveloped three acre lot southwest of the intersection of 29th Street and Wilson Avenue in northwest Loveland, approximately 925 feet west of Wilson Ave on the south side of 29th Street in northwest Loveland.

The project will consist of a 12,000 square foot two-company structure that will include living quarters, fire apparatus bays and a multi-purpose community and training room.

Scope and Project Description
The selected artist will be responsible for:
identifying sites for integrated artwork
interpreting the history and functions of Fire & Rescue services
interpreting the site using feedback from user groups
identifying ways to maximize the Art in Public Places monies by capitalizing upon construction projects
utilizing the exterior of the site

Budget
The overall budget for the artwork portion of this project is approximately $41,000; to include design, fabrication, insurance, installation, contingency, travel and all incidental costs.

During the design phase, the selected artist will be paid an hourly rate from this overall project budget. The overall design budget may not exceed $4,000.

Following the design presentation and approval of concepts therein, the artist will enter into a separate artwork purchase agreement with the City of Loveland.

Eligibility
The project is open to any professional artist residing within a 150-mile radius of Loveland.

Selection Criteria
The primary criteria for selection are:
Experience in collaborating with architects and design teams
Ability to communicate effectively and meet critical deadlines
Ability to propose and successfully execute excellent artwork that will enhance/beautify this site
Previous similar artistic accomplishment as shown in images of past projects
Available to begin work immediately

Selection Process
The selection panel will be representatives from the following groups:
Visual Arts Commission (4)
Fie & Rescue staff (2)
Facilities staff (2)
Loveland Citizens (3)

The selection panel will make a recommendation to the Visual Arts Commission (VAC). The final artist selection will be made by the VAC.

Submission Requirements
Each application must include:
Current resume or curriculum vitae.
Five—ten digital images representing past work completed within the last five years
A written preliminary statement, not to exceed one page, which addresses the artist’s interest in this project and a preliminary statement of approach.

Timeline
Applications must be received by February 28, 2013.
Finalist will be notified by March 15, 2013.
The selected artist must be able to begin work on the design team immediately.

The Commission reserves the right to reject all proposals.
