REQUIREMENTS: Images - Minimum: 1 , Maximum: 5 Entry Fee (Moore Inspired: Contemporary Responses to Henry Moore): $25.00 (per image over minimum): $ Denver Botanic Gardens is pleased to present the opportunity to submit artworks for consideration for the juried exhibition, "Moore Inspired: Responses to Henry Moore." The show is one of multiple programs being offered in conjunction with the landmark exhibition of monumental works by the internationally acclaimed sculptor Henry Moore (1898-1986), Moore in the Gardens. Moore Inspired will display contemporary artists’ responses to the forms and styles of Henry Moore’s artwork. Moore was primarily inspired by the human figure, and incorporated influences from African, pre-Columbian and Oceanic cultural traditions. Moore also drew from a library of natural forms: bones, pebbles, shells and the like that informed the abstracted and amorphic qualities in his work. Moore’s predilection for using plaster and clay maquettes to capture line and gesture might also be of impetus for artists submitting to this call. The show will be juried by the Denver Botanic Gardens Exhibitions & Art Department. Open to artists residing in Colorado. Exhibit Overview: Two-dimensional artworks in a range of media and small three-dimensional works will be selected. Smaller 3-D works will be within a locked glass display case with a solid back - thus viewable primarily from the front. The maximum dimension for the 3-D artworks case are 60 x 90 x 18”; ideally smaller works will be placed on glass shelves within this case. The exhibit will be mounted in the indoor Gates Garden Court gallery area which is used by many different audiences, including school groups consisting of young children. The nature of these multi-use spaces will be kept in mind during the jurying process. The $25 application fee is good for up to 5 images. |
