Florida’s oldest statewide annual juried competition, the All Florida features artwork from the best prominent and emerging Florida artists today. Submissions of original works will be considered from all media: paintings, drawings, prints, sculpture, photography, video, computer generated images, and site-specific installations. This year the Museum continues its tradition of reinforcing a strong commitment to Florida artists by inviting Linda Norden, Director of the CUNY Graduate Center’s James Gallery, New York City, to jury the selections and award the prizes. CASH AWARDS $3,000.00 will be distributed as follows: Best-In-Show: $1,500.00 Merit Awards (3): $500.00 A New Yorker, Linda Norden was Associate Curator of Contemporary Art at Harvard University’s Fogg Art Museum between 1998 and 2006, where she worked to build the museum’s contemporary art collection, and initiated an ongoing contemporary art exhibition program. Prior to her tenure at the Fogg, Norden served as Assistant Professor of Art History at Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. In 2005 she was Commissioner of the Venice Biennale’s U.S. Pavilion; and in 2008, Norden served as an advisor for the Whitney Biennial. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT Today’s artists are finding their diversity and freedom of expression in a variety of mediums. In turn, these means assure the artists’ function in our contemporary period. The sum of their ideas results in a unique collective voice which may lead to new facets of meaning for contemporary art. It is in this atmosphere and spirit that this annual juried competition and resultant exhibition is presented. By sponsoring the Annual All Florida Juried Competition and Exhibition, the Boca Raton Museum of Art hopes to demonstrate an enthusiasm for an emerging generation of artists, and to objectify their activity by depicting it through a selection of works that will provide an experience which will not have been simply our own, but that of an event in contemporary art.
