ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

The exhibition is open to members of the Washington Sculptors Group. Artists who are not already members may join WSG by paying annual dues of $45 ($15 for full-time students). New members may join at our website www.washingtonsculptors.org, or request a membership form by calling 202-686-8696, leaving a name and address. WSG members must have paid their dues for 2010 to be eligible for this exhibition. The mailing label should read 2010 to show you are paid up to date. Bills for 2010 dues will be in the mail to members in October.

Work to be Considered: Three-dimensional freestanding sculpture, wall hung, very lightweight ceiling hung sculpture, installations, and new media. No pedestals or audio/visual equipment will be provided. Gallery has 8 feet high ceilings, loading dock with standard double door to enter the gallery, movable walls and track lighting. All work accepted and exhibited must remain on display for the full duration of the show.

Wall work to be compatible with the Arakawa System: http://www.arakawagrip.com . No hook can hold over 40 lbs.

Artists are solely responsible for delivery and installation of their accepted work on the installation date, and de-installation of their work on the pick-up date. Staff will be available onsite to assist artists with installations. The gallery will not receive shipments of artwork.

INSURANCE/COMMISSION:

WSG will insure work while on site not during transportation. No commission will be taken on sales. Interested buyers will be directed to the artist or agent.

ENTRY SPECIFICATIONS:

Artists must use the CaFÉ web services (www.callforentry.org) to enter their artworks for
Sculpture NOW 2010.

Sculptures and mixed media sculptural installations: artists may enter one or two (1-2) works, up to 2 digital images per artwork, a maximum of 4 images per artist.

Video and New Media installation: All video and new media installation artists are
required to enter still images for their artworks. Video and new media artists may enter 1-2 works, maximum of 2 digital images per work, a maximum of 4 images per artist. Additionally for video and new media installations, artists may send DVD/s, 1 DVD per artwork, (a maximum of 2 DVDs,) with maximum of 10 minutes duration per project. DVDs must be formatted to open and run on Macintosh computer systems. Artists are solely responsible to test for correct functioning of their DVD entries; no WSG staff is available to fix/correct DVD errors. Please send your DVDs only to:

ABOUT JUROR RYAN HILL

Ryan Hill is the Curatorial Research Associate for the Hirshhorn Museum & Sculpture Garden. In this role, he is responsible for conducting research, organizing public education programs and serving as a lecturer for the wide variety of contemporary shows that the museum organizes. Mr. Hill earned a Master’s degree in Studio Art from the California Institute of the Arts and another in Film and Television from the University of California, both located in Los Angeles, CA, where he was born and raised. He also teaches art courses as an Adjunct Professor at George Washington University and is a working artist. His art practice spans an array of media and while he considers drawing as his primary medium, he has also engaged in a number of performance art and collaborative projects at colleges and art spaces across the country. Recently, his drawing installations have been featured in exhibitions in Los Angeles, CA, New York City, NY, Washington, DC, and Melbourne, Australia. Here in Washington, DC, Mr. Hill serves on the Board of Directors for the arts organization Transformer.


ABOUT WASHINGTON SCULPTORS GROUP

Washington Sculptors Group founded in 1984, promotes an awareness and an understanding of sculpture and fosters the exchange of ideas among sculptors, collectors and the general public through: sponsorship of frequent events, including artists’ panels, presentations, workshops and social gatherings; co-sponsorship of programs with museums and other art groups; and organization of professionally curated exhibitions in museums and alternative spaces in the Washington area and beyond. The all-volunteer WSG Board of Directors and its committees, along with some 350 members (of sculptors, collectors, curators, and others interested in sculpture) organize all its programs. WSG received the Mayor’s Arts Award for Excellence in Service to the Arts in 2004.
