REQUIREMENTS: Images: 6 For more than 90 years, the California Community Foundation (CCF) has recognized, encouraged and supported the Southern California arts community by funding and nurturing a full range of artistic expressions. The Fellowship for Visual Artists is designed to support local emerging and mid-career artists in advancing to the next level of professional development. The foundation views the arts as a vehicle of community building and civic engagement, especially since the arts can help communities address difficult social problems, provide a safe means of bridging differences and enrich people’s lives. The foundation’s commitment to support individual artists emphasizes the role of the arts in connecting communities, bridging cultural barriers and in celebrating the rich diversity of Los Angeles County. The California Community Foundation’s Fellowship for Visual Artists is made possible by the J. Paul Getty Trust Fund for the Visual Arts, the Brody Arts Fund, the Joan Palevsky Endowment for the Future of Los Angeles and other CCF funds. OBJECTIVES • To acknowledge the contributions of outstanding mid-career visual artists in Los Angeles by enhancing, encouraging and nurturing artistic accomplishments • To encourage and foster promising and emerging visual artists in Los Angeles by supporting early stages of individual development • To increase access to artistic support among the diverse communities of Los Angeles • To support and develop artistic or cultural talent of special merit that reflects Los Angeles’ diverse population REVIEW PROCESS A new multidisciplinary selection panel made up of distinguished artists and professionals from the Los Angeles arts community is created annually to review qualified applications. Awards will be announced the last week of June 2010. The selection panel members will also be announced at that time.
