The City of Greeley is accepting artist’s entries for the 14th Annual Sculpture on Loan Program. The request is open to professional and amateur artists of all backgrounds. Each artist may enter up to three works. Judging is based on the originality of the piece, its durability and suitability for outdoors and safety for the public. It is recommended that artwork be more than three feet in height.

In 1995, the Greeley Art Commission initiated the Sculpture on Loan Program with the placement of three pieces of art in the Downtown area. Each year, the Commission solicits art to be on display for one year in public areas and community parks. The Greeley area consists of a viewing population of nearly 100,000 people.

We currently have twelve spaces to display outdoor sculpture and plan to expand in 2010 with six additional spaces near the downtown Greeley businesses. It is Greeley’s honor to exhibit sculptures so that the public may enjoy the artists’ talents and purchase accordingly. Each year, with citizen input the City purchases one or more sculptures to be added to the permanent art collection.

A statement about the inspiration for artwork or other interesting information must be included for our most current brochure.
