ELIGIBILITY/ENTRY FEE

Open to living artists 18 years or older, regardless of geographic location. Artists may enter two different pieces, but only one piece per artist may be accepted into the show. Artists may submit one digital image for each 2-dimensional work and two digital images for each 3-dimensional work (sculpture). Entries must be submitted to the CPSA Explore This! 6 Exhibition on the CaFÉ^TM website (http://www.callforentry.org/) according to instructions. No preferential treatment for members.

Artists not familiar with CaFÉ are encouraged to allow time to learn about the image format requirements.

SPECIFICATIONS

The media used must be predominantly colored pencil pigment and that should be listed first. Artwork must include some element that makes it ineligible for the CPSA International Exhibition. For example, 3-dimensional works, works with media other than colored pencil, collages, prepared surfaces, etc.
Artwork must have been executed after November 15, 2006 and not previously hung in any national CPSA exhibition (International OR Explore This!).
Concept, design and execution of the artwork shall be SOLELY that of the artist. No work copied from copyrighted or published materials. No collaborations.
Information on submitted entry regarding size and price cannot be changed. Artwork cannot be altered after submission of entry. Price of artwork may be changed to NFS (not for sale) anytime during the exhibition.
CPSA reserves the right to disallow a work if it fails to meet the specified criteria.

NOTE: Artwork not meeting these specifications will be removed from the show, the acceptance will not count toward CPX Signature status, and any awards will be forfeited.

ABOUT SUBMITTING AN ENTRY

You may apply to this CPSA exhibition ONLY once. If you wish to submit two works (up to 4 images if 3-dimensional), be sure to include both works and all information at the same time.

Please register your full name using standard capitalization (first letter of name capitalized, others lower case).

For each work you submit, you must provide the following information on the "My Images" screen.

Title - use standard capitalization (first letter of words capitalized, others lower case).
Medium - give surface used and list the media used (with CP first) from most to least amount.
Price - enter the price (0 = not for sale). Inquiries will be forwarded to the Artist. There will be no commission charged on any sales.
Year of Completion - work must have been finished after November 15, 2006.

When filling out the entry information, disregard the "Invitational Passcode". This is not an invitational show, so no passcode is required.

SALES

Artwork in the Explore This! 6 Exhibition may be for sale or not for sale. A for sale designation may be changed during the show by notifying the Exhibition Director (exhibitions@cpsa.org). CPSA will forward any inquiries about purchasing artwork to the artist. It is the responsibility of the artist to finalize the sale.

AWARDS / SIGNATURE STATUS

Awards include a $2,000 cash award for best of show, EXPY award, and other cash amounts. Award winners are notified by phone. All accepted work will be published in full color in To The Point. The top three winners in Explore This! 6 are invited to ship their work to the 18th Annual CPSA International Exhibition for display in Los Gatos.

Starting in 2009, CPSA members may earn CPX Signature status (the right to include the letters CPX after their name) by having their art appear in three CPSA Explore This! Exhibitions within 10 years. Any lapse in CPSA membership results in loss of prior acceptances and forfeit of CPX Signature status.

PERMISSION AND COPYRIGHT

By submitting an entry, the Artist grants permission for CPSA to use the accepted image in its news magazine, To The Point, on its website at www.cpsa.org, on the Read-only DVD of artwork from the CPSA shows of 2010, and for brochures, promotional materials and publicity about the show. Every effort will be made to maintain quality true to the submitted image, recognizing that the print or electronic medium may affect how the viewer receives the image.

The Artist hereby certifies that he or she holds the copyright for this material and the copyright remains with said Artist. CPSA will display a notice that material must not be “downloaded” or copied, but will not be held responsible if artwork is copied. The artist also certifies that the work submitted is original and does not infringe on any existing copyright. If artwork includes an image of a person, the Artist certifies that a model release has been obtained.
