The show is one of multiple programs being offered in conjunction with the landmark exhibition of monumental works by the internationally acclaimed sculptor Henry Moore (1898-1986), Moore in the Gardens. Moore Inspired will display contemporary artists’ responses to the forms and styles of Henry Moore’s artwork. Moore was primarily inspired by the human figure, and incorporated influences from African, pre-Columbian and Oceanic cultural traditions. Moore also drew from a library of natural forms: bones, pebbles, shells and the like that informed the abstracted and amorphic qualities in his work. Moore’s predilection for using plaster and clay maquettes to capture line and gesture might also be of impetus for artists submitting to this call. This exhibit will take place indoors in the Gates Garden Court gallery. The show will be juried by the Denver Botanic Gardens Exhibitions & Art Department. Open to artists residing in Colorado.
